- 2017
During a vacation week, a friend hosts us in Valencia. We quickly fall in love with the city: its cultural richness, quality of life, and the kindness of its residents captivate us. Our friend, already a property investor, encourages us to explore the local market. Enthralled, we take the time to study the neighborhoods and understand the city’s dynamics.
- 2018
We take the leap and make our first purchase. We soon realize a real need in the rental market: young people, whether students, young professionals, or couples, struggle to find housing that suits their needs and budget. The market mainly consists of large two-to-four-bedroom apartments, making it difficult to access smaller, furnished, and functional spaces. Driven by the desire to provide a solution, we start transforming apartments to create more accessible housing, designed for those looking for a manageable and comfortable home.
We also recognize Valencia’s strong appeal for digital nomads and entrepreneurs, attracted by its climate and quality of life. Having experienced this ourselves, we understand how crucial housing is. With the rise of remote work, it is essential to offer well-designed spaces that balance comfort and functionality.
- 2019
After six months of renovations, we start accepting bookings under a new brand: Origami Apartments. Our first tenants move in, drawn by well-optimized housing and a seamless booking experience. Instead of using agencies, we adopt a direct approach through social media, prioritizing transparency and personalized support.
With many fraudulent listings circulating, we quickly grasp the importance of reassuring future tenants. To help, we create educational videos providing them with the knowledge to avoid scams and secure their housing search.
- 2020
The success of our first project reinforces our vision, and we decide to reinvest with the same concept. We maintain low vacancy rates, while the pandemic accelerates the shift to remote work, further increasing demand for this type of housing.
- 2021
We successfully rent out a second property and decide to industrialize our approach by purchasing a third apartment in the same neighborhood. As Valencia rapidly grows and gains international appeal, we begin helping friends invest in real estate by assisting them with property searches, renovations, and rental management.
- 2022
A third property, divided into two units, is completed, bringing our portfolio to six one-bedroom apartments. With a booming real estate market and fewer similar opportunities available, we expand our horizons: shared apartments, commercial space transformations, tourist apartments…
We also diversify our portfolio with a property in Gandia, a coastal city offering some of Spain’s best returns. Fully renovated, it is rented on Airbnb in high season and as a mid-term rental in winter. Customer satisfaction is reflected in excellent reviews and our SuperHost status on the platform.
- 2023
We successfully launch our first shared apartment in Valencia, a project driven by the desire to create welcoming and fully-equipped housing. Every detail reflects our experience since 2018 and our commitment to designing spaces where people enjoy living.
Convinced that quality of life outweighs profitability, we decide against converting commercial spaces, as they often lack light and ventilation. Meanwhile, the first restrictions on short-term rentals confirm our preference for sustainable housing integrated into the city.
As Valencia attracts more developers, we aim higher: to create a space embodying our vision of living. A project we initially pursued led us to Benimamet, a promising neighborhood where we found an ideal site to build a residential building designed for community and well-being. Surrounded by trusted experts, we embark on this journey and officially establish Origami Apartments S.L.
- 2024
We continue to offer housing designed for occupant well-being: six one-bedroom apartments and a shared apartment in Valencia, plus a tourist rental in Gandia, all highly rated by our tenants.
Early in the year, we begin collaborating with Frasquet Arquitectos, one of the region’s top architecture firms, to bring our Balimamet residence to life. With a rigorous approach, we design a place that optimizes space for a pleasant and harmonious living environment.
Initially, the project was to be funded through pre-sales, but we ultimately choose to retain full ownership to ensure management aligns with our values. To achieve this, we open our capital and welcome four committed investors, raising €300,000 in an initial funding round.
After months of hard work, we receive full approval from Valencia’s Urban Planning Authority, bringing us closer to starting construction.
